The Falcons stumbled at Barstow losing 72-75 in overtime. The loss opens up the conference championship as four teams head into their final games with two losses. The Falcs will need a victory Friday to keep in the race as the face their old varsity assistant, RJ Newton, now head coach of Maranatha.

The first half was excellent. Six different Falcons scored, none with more than Xavier Marrero’s (SR Guard) 10 points. The Falcons moved the ball quickly and decisively on offense. Several of Van Horn’s shooters even woke up out their New Year’s hibernation.

The Falcons kept a small lead into the fourth quarter before trading baskets late in the fourth. It came down to composure. The Falcons looked like a team that is still learning how to win, while the former champs, Barstow kept it together. Coach Sollars has the Falcons poised to become serial winners, but the program must learn to win close games on the road.
